There are many shortcuts, tips and tricks to using the www.CosmeticsDatabase.com site. I go over a lot of these things during my Ava seminars.
The database gives products and ingredients a score from 0-10. Zero being the safest, and 10 being the highest hazard.
When you type in a product name it first gives you an overall score. This score could be a 5, for an example. BUT, this product could contain ingredients that are 8,7,6, etc. The overall score is a nice quick reference, but I always like to dig a little deeper.
Scroll down and look at the ingredients and the scores for those. You may notice that "fragrance" always has a score of 8. Really, no one knows what is in that ingredient. It could be up to 600 different dangerous chemicals. Do not ever buy anything with fragrance in it! That is the simplest tip!
