Isn't it Ironic?

The following statements on labels strike me as a bit ironic!

My old chapstick states on the label:
Do not Ingest. Harmful if swallowed. Call poison control immediately if ingested.

My old eye make-up remover said:
Avoid contact with your eyes
.

Seriously, what is going on with this? It says right on the labels that our products are POISONOUS. Call poison control? Do not ingest?

It is actually more harmful to put something on your skin than it is to eat it, so how does this make any sense??? Someone please help me understand!

  1. Yikes! I've noticed that my eye makeup remover makes my eyes blurry for awhile afterwards... that can't be good. But I've discovered that a few drops of almond oil on a wet washcloth works just as good. And it's cheaper and chemical-free. What I'd really like to find is chemical and fragrance-free shampoo, conditioner and facial moisturizer.
