Mia Davis

This weekend I had the honor of meeting Mia Davis!

Jo Ford, Mia Davis, Lyndsi O'Brien

Mia is the National Grassroots Coordinator for the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics!
www.SafeCosmetics.org

"The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics is working to protect your health by eliminating the use of chemicals linked to cancer, birth defects and other health problems"

Mia was an amazing speaker and I struggled to keep up with taking notes and taking pictures! I will post some of my notes on here soon. She visited for the Ava Anderson Non-Toxic Rising Stars Meeting and it was also open to the public. How incredible is it to be a part of this! I am inspired more then ever now to get this information out to the public and join Mia in the fight against toxins.

One topic that really impacted a lot of people was her discussion on "green-washing" and pink-washing". Here is a posting I did on my family blog regarding the pinkwashing problem:

Avoid Phthalates!

There are so many reasons to avoid phthalates (pronounced thay-lates).

Here is one more reason... many toxins are being linked to causing autism and behavioral problems.

Phthalates are a plasticizer and used to make vinyl shower curtains, plastic bottles, and "fragrance" in products. Avoiding the word fragrance in products does not mean you are giving up scent/smell. It is a word manufacturers use on products to hide over 600 toxic ingredients. Over 70% of personal care products contain phthalates even though not a single bottle lists it as an ingredient. They are a known endocrine disruptor and have been linked with low sperm count, early puberty, and genital changes in babies.

Check out the following article regarding toxins being linked with autism:
